Telfords rally followed on from the National. The weather was just as good with warm sun shine basking the field for the whole weekend.
As I was working on the Saturday I got to the site at 1:30pm finding it with ease with my good old Tom Tom device. Then driving onto the field I was greeted with a nice friendly smile from the chap camped by the gate.
Then Paul greeted me and informed me where my clan was (Pete and Dee) though Dee popped up behind him and asked the best question of the day “would I like an Ice Cream”. Now that is a silly question on such a hot day.
Parking the van up I met R3W’s Not The Stig who had a nice side valve engine and box in the back of his car for Elvis, so after asking if it could be left there for a while as I had a load of Land Rover wheels in the back off my van for Kerry I sore Dee who by now had ot my lovely Ice cream.
After the opening ceremony I went around the field to try my hand at some of the puzzles that had been set up for us to do.
There was horse shoe throwing I managed to hit the post three times but never got one to hook round so moved on to the Frisbee throwing, here you had to get the disk to land on a target set out in front of you problem was that the target seemed to keep moving, or was it me that could not hit the target.
Next came the Ball game where you had to land as many balls as you could in a square about twenty feet away from you. I managed three but could not better that score. The lawn darts was fun and I managed to get all three onto the target but not in the center one.
So over to the water game where you had a spike and you had 60 seconds to get as many corks out of the water filled bowl as you can I was pleased with 26 till I learned that Snowy had pulled 50 out. How I don’t know he must have one good hand to eye set up.
The last game I did was the best one for me and that was the wheel change. You had to undo the four wheel nuts take off the wheel and then run around the car with it and then put it back on and do up the nuts. I managed to do this in a winning time off 1 minute and 5 seconds and won two nice bottles of J2O for my efforts.
The evening entertainment was very good they chose five men out of the crowed and then when they were seated put a large pile of make up on the floor and got the kids to come and put it on the men. Then if that was not bad enough they were then taken around the back on the tent and had to dress the part for Miss Telford 2009.
The whole day was a great laugh and I will be there next year only this time I will be camping for the whole weekend.
Thanks to all that was there that made it such a good day see you next time
